Hey there. Jackson Rickun here. I don't have a live portfolio link right now, which is inconvenient because I think I'm unusually right for this role.
The PR version is that my portfolio site is currently undergoing a rebuild; the short version is that I literally just deleted it myself one morning while tired. I tried to touch one corner of the site and somehow exploded the whole thing. I'm a great writer, but I do not recommend giving me the nuclear codes if you hire me.
The work itself still exists. For the past two years, I was Senior Copywriter and then Manager, Editorial & Copy at Grindr, writing across brand, product, app copy, editorial, campaigns, and cultural moments where every word had to be funny, clear, defensible, and approved by people with very different ideas of what "edgy" means.
Before that, I worked in CBD/wellness, freelanced for consumer brands, and wrote for tech companies, so I'm used to making products that are intimate, technical, regulated, culturally loaded, or otherwise allergic to plain English sound human.
That’s also why Superhuman stood out. Email is mostly writing under pressure: say the thing, sound like a person, don’t create a second problem, and ideally don’t delete your own portfolio in the process.
I realize "my portfolio is temporarily unavailable because I personally destroyed it" is not the traditional opening move of a strong candidate. But the same perfectionism keeping me from sending a half-rebuilt site is also the reason the work is good.
Which is to say: the site is under construction, the work is not, and I'd love to send it over.
